SmoothGuardian Module

SmoothGuardian is the web content filtering module for the Corporate Server firewall. Its primary function is to ensure that users' web browsing is work related, with categorized blocking of objectionable content such as pornography, violence, drugs and racial hatred.

Unlike most filtering products which rely on web site 'blacklists', Guardian dynamically analyses the content of received web pages, blocking on the basis of what pages actually contain, not where they come from.

Dynamic Content Analysis (Active Content Filtering) is the key technology that makes SmoothWall's Guardian solutions more effective than other filtering products.

Access to news, sports and other "time wasting" sites can be restricted on a time-of-day basis if desired. Guardian can also prevent the download of copyright music and executable files that may contain viruses. A sophisticated page weighting system recognizes content that is clearly work related, avoiding the problem of over blocking medical and technical pages experienced by other content filters

SmoothGuardian, like all SmoothWall modules, is easily installed and registered on the firewall server from the administrator's computer via the web interface and installation media.
